The Fair Close Centre has been awarded a grant of £5000 from the Berkshire Community Foundation (BCF) to support its work delivering meals on wheels to the elderly and vulnerable citizens of West Berkshire.
The grant comes from the BCF Coronavirus Appeal which has been supported by the National Emergencies Trust and organisations across Berkshire. The aim of the appeal is to support charities who are on the front line dealing with the current crisis.
Chair of Trustees of Age Concern Newbury & District which runs the Fair Close Centre, Josie Reed said, “We are enormously grateful to the Berkshire Community Foundation for this grant. These much needed funds will go towards the work we are doing together with our community partners, Newbury Racecourse and Swift Logistics to scale up our meals on wheels operation. I would also like to take this opportunity to praise all our amazing staff and volunteers who are showing just what a community can achieve when they come together with a common purpose!”
