At the heart of the Fair Close Centre is a very busy kitchen. 500 hot nutritious meals are served each week to members in the centre and 300 freshly cooked meals are delivered by the ‘Meals on Wheels’ volunteers to housebound senior citizens out in the community. Not to mention supplying frozen meals for the weekends, takeaway sandwiches and cakes and the Sunday Lunch initiative to which our members can bring their friends and family along to twice a month as well.
Head Chef, Sophie Waters explains, “It is so rewarding to know that we are providing our members with a nutritious hot meal every day at a very reasonable price which we know will make a difference to both their physical and mental wellbeing. The introduction of the Sunday Lunch is very exciting as it can appeal to a broader audience and enable families or groups of friends to go out for a full roast and pudding for a fraction of what it would cost at the pub – a delicious roast dinner, huge portions and a great atmosphere! I am very grateful to all of our wonderful staff and volunteers for their support – through good food, we are making a huge difference.”
